How to Pick a Boutonniere
Not sure what will look good on his lapel (besides you, of course)? Read on for our answers to your questions about finding the right boutonniere for him.

What is it? A small cluster of one to two flower buds pinned together and worn on the right lapel. You can get away with just one flower, but only if it's extra large.

When to shop for it? Start shopping a month before the prom to get the best selection.

What type of flowers should I pick? There are so many options to choose from! But there are a couple of easy ways you can narrow the field. Guys tend to like traditional flowers such as carnations or roses, but that's not saying you can't get creative -- a bright gerbera daisy, a mini-radish, or a cluster of berries all would make for a cool accent. If you want it to match your dress, do it! If you're not into that, stick with white or another neutral.

How much does one cost? Most boutonnieres will run anywhere from $5 to $20. You may get the best deals if you buy the corsage and boutonniere at the same flower shop. And hey, if you and your guy go shopping together, you can match your flowers if you like.

Anything else I should know? Don't forget to pick up the boutonniere the day of the prom! Then store it in your fridge so it won't wilt.
